    One handgun per month question.

Hi, this is my first post on the forums so I hope I'm in the right spot for this question:

Do inter-familial transfers count on the one handgun per month rule? My dad gave me his .357 but I would also like to buy a .40 on the marketplace here.

I read that "intrafamilial handgun transfers are NOT subject to the Roster of Handguns," but wasn't sure exactly what that meant.

    Thanks

They should not but, if your dad is not a California resident, you have to go through an 01FFL (per federal law) and, it will end up counting.

Worst thing that can hapen is when you go to the FFL for the transfer - the CA-DROS system will ding you and say that you are "under the 30 day line" and they get to hold the gun for a few extra weeks.

Annoyning, but we got bigger issues.

You said you're buying from the marketplace. I thought PPTs are also exempt from 1 in 30.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Intrafamilial transfers and PPT are both exempt from the roster and the 1 in 30 limit....

Then all he has to do is hand you the firearm. You'll need to submit paperwork to the DOJ afterwards, but they don't apply that to the 1 in 30.

Doing a PPT from the marketplace here will also be exempt from the 1 in 30.

The only time the 1 in 30 applies is if you are purchasing from a dealer (including transfers from out of state).

                  CHS has it ^^

Also, purchases of consigned guns are PPT-like and not counting toward 1 in 30 either.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
