What is the procedure for buying a handgun?

You probably MUST use your parent's address - the address has to be what is on your gov't issued ID.

You must present three things to a gun store in order to purchase a handgun in California. They are as follows....

1. Valid driver's license OR id card
2. Handgun Safety Card
3. A second proof of residency such as a utility bill in your name or a current car registration.

Additionally you must be twenty-one years old and pass the background check. Good luck!

Is this the same for long guns now too? I was able to purchase my shotgun with 2 different addresses. I just needed 1 of the forms of ID to match the address i put on the form.

I dont have the correct address on my license, DMV still has not issued me a new one

I have my car registration to my apartment

Everything else is registered at mine/my parents house

All you need to purchase a long gun is driver's licence OR id card. You must be at least eighteen years and pass the background check.
