Guns on Multi Use Property, AKA School/Church

How far are you supposed to stay away from a school when transporting a gun? Is it the same for handguns and long guns?

Does property that is a school and a church count as a school full time or only durning school days?

Looks like K-12 schools are always schools - the PC 626.9 text does not say 'when school is is in session' or 'when children are present'.

It might be possible to argue that
    (f) (1) Any person who violates subdivision (b) by possessing
a firearm in, or on the grounds of, a public or private school
providing instruction in kindergarten or grades 1 to 12,
inclusive, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state
prison for two, three, or five years.
"providing instruction" means 'while in session' - no instruction going on when the place is closed, right? - but I don't think a criminal case is the place to hope for that definition to be established.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
