Shooting in Trabuco Canyon/Cleveland National Forest

I was doing some hiking down there yesterday on Holy Jim Trail and noticed a sign that said something along the lines of "NO SHOOTING in the following areas: rivers, creeks, and areas" This is not exactly what it said, but I do remember thinking I would never shoot in those places anyway, but what do they mean by "areas"? It was very vague and my guess is that they call everything some type of area, be it wilderness area or whatnot. Anyone have any better info about this for me? Also, is it legal to loaded or unloaded carry while hiking on national forest land? Thanks!

If you're bringing a gun to a NF, you need to read this thread, answers most if not all questions:

I'll have to ask one of my attorneys in my firm about that sign (OC Parks Commissioner)... but what I have heard from him was that there is no open shooting in any OC park, area, or anywhere... Period...
That sign should probably read more like No Shooting Anywhere, or something similar... seems like that sign leaves it up in the air as to shooting when in fact you can't shoot at all...
I could be wrong... I doubt it... but I'll ask.... a pic would help, but I know you don't always think about that at the time... I'll pm you if/when i find out...

This sign was actually not in the OC Park part of the trail. We had already driven past the National Forest signs. But yes please do when you find out thanks!
