    Yes - that's a locked case.

      The OP shouldn't have to lock his gun away like he's ashamed of it or something but that is the reality of current California Law. Until that particular bit of statist arrogance can be eliminated (hopefully with extreme prejudice) avoiding the particular problem outlined is just too easy to obsess about. Get a GunVault NV300 NanoVault or something similar and keep it under seat or in the trunk. If the OP needs something easier to transport then a small backpack or one of those tool bags that just about every Home Depot or Lowes sells. Some have zippers that are made to be locked by a luggage lock and any can be quickly adapted to be lockable.
