I new to firearm ownership and just had the craziest experience with the DOJ. I have purchased two firearms within the state of Cal. the last being a couple of weeks ago. I put in the paperwork for a .22 rifle and a WASR-10 I bought at Turners. They called a couple of days ago and said it had a delay put on it by the DOJ and I should call, so I did. I spoke with a lady who had some questions about my background and a very bad choice I made 17 years ago. She knew the charges and the final judgement of the case but wasn't sure what it meant so she requested a info packet from the State that the incident occurred. I asked how I was able to purchase a firearm weeks ago and there was no problem but now there is. Her answer was that she didn't know maybe they missed something. So basically she admitted that sometimes a few slip through, great I sleep so much better tonight. I asked if she would like a copy of the file she requested faxed to her because I have a copy of it and she said that was great. So I drove down to the postal annex and faxed her a copy. When I called her back to ask if she had received it, she stated yes but hadn't had a chance to review the document as of yet. I asked if I could call her back in 24 hours to give her a chance to review the document. She stated that no she couldn't tell me when in fact that chance was going to come. After further pressing it came to light that she really didn't know what the file I sent her meant and MAYBE she go talk to somebody about it, but wasn't sure. She also admitted that she was new and didn't really understand all the aspects of her job. I asked her again how is it that I was able to LEGALLY purchase a firearm(s) in California not but a couple of weeks ago but now their is a need to delay my firearm purchase. She became very defensive at this point and couldn't answer my questions. Should I be contacting her Supervisor and reporting this obviously highly incompoent person or seek legal consul. Not really sure. Thank in advance for your feedback.
