    Unfortunately, the SCOTUS has ruled that something that was produced entirely within one state and has never left that state at all still affects interstate commerce. The reasoning is that if you bought a locally produced item, you therefore did not buy an interstate item, so interstate commerce is affected by your opportunity cost. I think they might have ruled this way in more than one case, too. The implications of this are absolutely horrible.
