the obama administration said shooting on public lands scared "urbanites", why the heck didn't they get rid of the NFA for suppressors and mandate their use near populated areas???

I've played with a few cans. I've used some which require subsonic ammo. I also know that some cans actually require you to shoot supersonic ammo to funtion properly. Yet, they don't have a sonic crack. When it comes to 50 cans, yes, some of the gas still escapes and a good can can end up sounding like an unsurpressed .22lr.
yes, there are other factors, but they have to do it caliber, volume, air pressure.
Many suppressor designs bleed off extra gas in order to turn a supersonic round subsonic as it leaves the muzzle...special rounds like the .300 whisper were developed to be subsonic
There are five major categories of suppressed fire noise: action, blast, sonic signature, impact, and operator. Some of these are present in all instances, others depend wholly on the specific mechanics of the weapon employed.
In order of timing:
Action noise required to ignite the round.
Muzzle blast resulting from the discharge of propellant gas from the end of the barrel.
Sonic signature of the projectile in flight (supersonic velocity rounds).
Action noise in some firearm variants as the spent round is discharged and a fresh round reloaded.
Impact noise created as the projectile finds terminal impact.
The two loudest sounds in a gunshot are typically the muzzle blast and the sonic signature. Paired reports from the same shot may be observed when the listener is first reached by the shock wave generated by the bullet flying past at supersonic speed, then by the muzzle blast moving at sound speed all the way from the muzzle.sigpic

There is another situation in which suppressors could be particularly important: during pregnancy. Loud noises cause fetal hearing damage.Originally posted by Edmund G. If every fundamental liberty can be stripped away by a majority vote, then it's not a fundamental liberty.Originally posted by jeffyhogWhen the governor vetoes a bill that would make it a felony to steal a gun, but signs a bill into law that makes it a felony not to register a gun you already legally own, you know something isn't right.Comment

K well I'm going to do whatever it takes to get some even if I have to store them in another state. I already have an established NFA trust. Can anyone tell me who to go through or what I need to do to do this? Do I need to do dual residency? Any lawyers who you would recommend to make this happen.
ThanksComment

I would recommend that you talk to the attorney who drew up your NFA trust to see if it is valid in another state or can be amended to be valid in a dual-state scenario. I don't think YOU need to have dual-residency, but that you would need to have a trustee that is a resident of the second state.
If you don't have access to the lawyer who wrote the trust, I'd contact Oaklander to see what he can do for you. He has mentioned dual-state trusts in the past and might be able to get your trust amended to support what you want to do.Jack

Alright I know that the topic of Suppressors has been tossed around and the various comments that can be made about how dumb our CA gun laws are and the arguments we can make against them. Well I would like to start a serious discussion and a poll of sorts towards what would it honestly take to fight towards making them legal in this state. Im not talking about anything other than suppressors, not sbr's, sbs's or any other NFA items for that matter. Some questions I have:
Obviously first would be cost. What would the initial cost be to get a serious team of lawyers/lobbyists to even take on such a fight?
Depending on cost are there enough of us who want them or believe in them enough that we could start a fund for the fight so to speak?
What is the argument or reason/purpose that individuals use that the feds and other states deem acceptable to issue a stamp for Suppressors?
What organizations actually support the fight for NFA items, and which of those organizations do you think would assist us if they knew we were serious about this?"What is a moderate interpretation of the text? Halfway between what it really means and what you'd like it to mean?"
