Anti gun mindset.
Many people who are anti-gun are so because of "fear and ignorance".
The "ignorance" comes because most people who are anti-gun are actually very ignorant about guns.
"Fear" comes from the seeing "guns in a bad light". Let's face it, with the news operating under the three "Cs" for stories, Conflict, Controversy and Compassion as guidelines for stories, the old saying "if it bleeds, it leads" means that bad things with guns will lead the news.
Media is ratings driven and American viewers are addicted to drama.
The facts that most people believe about guns come from what they see on TV and in the movies.
This "fear and ignorance" sets the mindset for many people to be anti-gun and when your political leaders, police chiefs and community organizers talk that the crime that keeps us prisoneers in our own homes and afraid to walk the streets is because of easily available "guns and drugs".
Now when you add "dead or maimed victims", guess what.
We are winning in most of America, but we are down to the last holdouts.
What is critical now is our opponents are on "defense" and they are losing support.
In California, we will have to have regional action because what will work in say Kern County may not work in the San Fran Bay Area and vice versa.
We have good ground people on this board. I would encourage everyone to actually go to Calguns events in your areas, meet people because alot of the fun things happen off the internet.
Many of us do have fear of doing public events, we are in the closet about being gun owners. We need to come out of the closet, as long as we are consistently promoting "freedom and responsibility", we can be out and proud anywhere in the state because we have already proved it.
Tom, Gene, Andrew, myself and others have marched "Pro Gun, Pro-Carry and Armed Self Defense" contingents in the annual gay pride marches in Long Beach, San Francisco and West Hollywood last year and rather than being booed, we got a decent response from what we thought would be a very anti-gun crowd of spectators.
We were literally marching into what we thought was the "belly of the beast".
My point is simple, if we can do blantantly pro-gun marches in those cities, we can do pro-gun events anywhere in the state and the only reason not to do things is "fear itself".
Our gun rights are dependent on other rights and the reality is other people's rights are dependent on our gun rights.
If you are willing to respect and protect other people's rights, especially the ones you DON"T like, the you are on the path for EPIC WINS.
