A little off topic, but it involves the same woman's blog. As today, she still has not gotten her gun, apparently.
DC actually uses Handgun Rosters from 3 states including ours, with their logo stamped on top?!?! Talk about arbitrary and just piss poor follow through on anything. Wow!
After careful consideration, I decided on buying the Sig Sauer P229 two-tone. I knew I wanted a full-size 9mm that I could handle well and that felt comfortable in my hands. But after endless searching, I can't find one that is legal to register in the District of Columbia. I've hit a wall in my effort to get a legal handgun in Washington.
However, on the city’s website, there is a list of firearm makes and models, which appears to the the California roster with the D.C logo stuck on the top. One of the regulations to getting a gun registered is proving you have good eyesight, which the city must be testing by posting a 13-page list of guns in about 6pt font.Comment

I remember that lie: "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you.".It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.
How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.
The government does not come knocking at your door. It comes knocking down your door.Comment

Well, at first they used CA's list. Then Gura called and asked if they're serious. DC ran away screaming and adopted MD and MA's lists as well. MD's list is a rubber stamp, anyone can submit a gun for approval and its free IIRC. It just takes a few months until the next approved list is published.Comment

Wait, is this surprise I detect amongst the ranks here?
This isn't a surprise. It's to be expected. It's exactly the sort of resistance we'll see here in California once it's California's turn. It's why it'll take many, many years, if not decades, for us to get some form of real right to keep and bear in public.
These people play dirty. If they can't get their way through some sort of published official policy, they'll get it through off-the-record actions. They will make us fight for every inch of ground. They will make us sue them for every little gain.
Because unlike racism, in their eyes their cause is "just", because it's "for the children", and they have complete personal immunity.Last edited by kcbrown; 01-18-2012, 11:39 AM.The Constitution is not "the Supreme Law of the Land, except in the face of contradicting law which has not yet been overturned by the courts". It is THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND, PERIOD. You break your oath to uphold the Constitution if you don't refuse to enforce unadjudicated laws you believe are Unconstitutional.
The real world laughs at optimism. And here's why.Comment
