I have a buddy who inherited guns from his grandfather. He wants to get them appraised for legal inheritance purposes. Does anyone know how to get firearms certified appraisals? Similar to Insurance.

I don't believe there is any such animal as a "certified firearm appraisal". However some shops may give you an appraisal if your friend brings them into their shop....Have him call first especially if he is looking for a written appraisal.
You could probably get the same information from publications such as "The blue book of gun values" or "The standard catalog of firearms"... Both are available at Barnes and Noble.Poke'm with a stick!

You can always send then to me for appraisal. I do sometimes send them back....
A better option is to contact Durrys Guns. They handle estate sales and come recommended for that. They may be able to point you in the right direction or help you directly.
Blue Book of Gun Values also offeres an appraisal service.Last edited by Mstrty; 11-01-2011, 12:37 AM.~
