Standard DROS followed by collector exempt DROS?

I recently received my new 03FFL after about a year without one. I also have a COE so I qualify for the multiple purchases of handguns per month. As I understand it, the rules have changed lately and the DoJ and ATF have declared that we can no longer use the C&R/COE to purchase multiple modern handguns per month(lame!!!)

On to my question; Can I do a regular, non-exempt DROS of a modern pistol followed by a C&R/CEO exempt DROS of a C&R revolver in the same month without the 2nd DROS being denied? In other words, do I have to let a month pass before I start a series of C&R purchases every time I buy a modern gun?

As helpful as waiting is for my bank account, I hate having to count the days to make sure don't start the process once day early and get bounced...

    Thanks!

    The law has not changed...

    03FFL + COE = Multiple Purchases OK

03FFL plus COE exempts you from one in 30 day restriction regardless of the age of the handgun..

That's good to know. Given how tricky it was to get FFLs to use the collector exemption on modern guns a couple years ago it'll be interesting to see how it goes these days.

Back to my original question, however. If I have a normal, non-exempt handgun DROS going, do I have to wait the full 30 days to start a collector-exemption DROS or are they treated like PPTs at that point and came be made at anytime without effecting anything else?

        Thanks!

I would use the 1 in 30 exemption on all handgun transfers... Why bother counting at all...

If you have both a 03FFL and COE

While that would be ideal, it would require all my local FFLs to understand the law clearly. Pretty much Ammo Bros would be my only chance of that happening. I do business with a few other places that are unfortunately less knowledgeable.

The question still stands, if anyone happens to know.

there is no such thing as a "collector exempt" DROS. There is an exemption to the ome in 30 day handgun purchase for people who hold a C&R FFL and a COE. This is not limited to C&R handguns and the procedure for inputting it into the computer is no different between modem and C&R guns.

I'm sure one of the FFLs or gun store employees can tell you exactly which screen to have the store pit the exemption information into.

Here is the answer to how this works.

www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

                  Thanks Wes! Much appreciated.

So if you have a "NONE" DROS going and start a "30 DAY MULTIPLE PURCHASE EXEMPT" within 30 days, will the 2nd one get declined?

No. Your second purchase is "30 DAY MULTIPLE PURCHASE EXEMPT".
