I don't know that I'd want to waste Jay LaSuer as an AG.

The Attorney General is in charge of enforcing laws. Jay LaSuer would have to prosecute "assault weapons" violations, etc. with the same vigor as Bill Lockyer.

I would much rather see strong pro-gun people in the Legislature. IIRC, Mr. LaSuer is up against term limits. If he runs for AG, he has my vote. I'd rather see him as a state Senator, or US Representative. Heck, if he could replace Feinstein, I'd probably die of happiness, but unless she gets run over by a truck, she's going to win with a ten point margin.

      This guy is wicked smart.

Darn right he is. When the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE (!) declares a right-wing Republican the debate winner, you know he's in reality the debate winner by a factor of 10. He made everyone else sitting at that table look like a bunch of squabbling school children. I was proud to vote for him.
On the other hand, I felt kind of bad that a talent like his is wasted as a long-shot opposition vote in the CA Senate. He should have been elected governor. Or even better, he should take over one of the US Senate seats from one of the two worthless people we have in there now.

        Bull****.

He can choose to ignore them and make the DOJ concentrate on real crimes if he so wishes. Think of the AG as the Chief of Police and then look how different departments enforce the laws in different parts of your state.

Is there a difference between rural Amador county and Alameda County? Apply for a CCW in either one or better yet look at the process for either one...

Look at the differences between ATF and FBI with regard to gun owners under Clinton and Bush.

Anyone who doesn't see a difference needs their head examined.

Here are some links. Send this man an email. Encourage him to run for AG, help him become aware he has support in this state. If you read his bio, he certainly has the qualifications for the AG job.

I doubt he would be qualified to be AG. He is not a lawyer, which I would think would be an essential prerequisite, if not a formal one. You don't have to be Catholic to be Pope either, but it's been a loooooong time since one wasn't.

That said, it is critical to show widespread support for these positions. That's what politicians sit up and take notice of.

I used to be a claim rep for an insurance co here in San Diego and had a claim at their house. I only met Mrs. La Suer but I can tell you they are good people. I'm glad to hear he's tried to make reasonable changes.

We need to strongly and actively support politicians like Mr. La Suer. Thats the best way to make long term changes.
