License to Carry and "Sensitive" Places

I have a slightly different question regarding having a LTC and places like schools, airports, gov buildings, or businesses which prohibit bringing a firearm...

What's the best way to remove it from concealment to storing it? Seems the law puts ppl in an uncomfortable position for having to remove a loaded firearm in public and having some bedwetter or LEO catch you not having it concealed and freak out.

If you have a LTC, what do you normally do when you have to leave it behind?

I'd just carry it whether someone/some place liked it or not. If carrying it in a certain place was an actual crime (as opposed to just being told to leave), then I would just avoid that place if possible.

I am not a fan of having to secure a weapon in a vehicle. If it is an absolute must, I'd use one of those small pistol safes that you can lock up and tie off to the seat somehow.

As for taking it off to store it, maybe pull over to a semi secluded spot before arriving at your destination so someone doesn't see you stashing something in your car and then walking away.

Just remove it while still in my car and leave it there. No reason go get and let people see what you're doing. Make sure to lock in up if you're leaving in the vehicle (although I admit no doing so plenty of times.)

Look for locations where you can back your vehicle in and up to a wall or other obstruction that provides concealment if you can't do everything in the car. Your open trunk lid can afford some concealment, and your lock box may be stored there in advance. The more nonchalant you appear the less most people will notice.

Would you be in violation of the law if somebody did see you remove your firearm due to being at one of these locations?

If somebody "saw" you removing your gun so you wouldn't be in violation of the restrictions? How? You're lawfully licensed no? You're putting the weapon into a security lockbox or trunk to avoid violating the law, no? So then you're violating the law? I wouldn't think so, but then, who knows what can happen in Kalifornia.

Many of the restrictions in the penal code have an exception for licensed CCW carriers. Read them carefully before making a decision.

I generally don't worry about it. If a DA or Asst. US attorney wants to prosecute me for carrying where I shouldn't after I went through all the legal means to carry it in the first place, then I'm screwed no matter what I do.

Plus I'll be telling the judge how dangerous it is for me to lawfully carry and then be required to handle the weapon in public in order to remove it, put it into a lockbox or trunk where others can see me, cause false alarm calls to the local police, then put it back on after I get back to the car, all opportunities for theft or mishap or whatever.

            But that's just me. YMMMV.
