    Stun guns and the like

What are the legalities of having or carrying stun guns and the like.

You can carry a stun gun or taser concealed in your pocket almost anywhere. There is surprisingly little in CA law about them.

I attended a Taser demo last week. The ones available for everyone to use are pretty impressive. We were told that generally in our area, after your Taser unit has been used, the local PD will replace the $40 charge for free!

I can't remember what company it is but if you produce a police report that shows you deployed your taser, they will replace your cartridge for free.

            Fixed it for you.

Thats "Taser International" my friend. I own a Taser C2 and have it holstered in my waistband. You can carry this Taser either concealed or openly and there is no permit required for it since by Federal Law it is not considered a firearm since its barbs are not propelled through a combustion process but instead it uses compressed Nitrogen as its source of propulsion.

Here is the Taser C2 product webpage.

Taser International. They are the only company that makes Tasers. Tasers shoot probes, by using compressed nitrogen, into a subject from 15 feet (civilian models) or from 25 to 30 feet (LE models) away. Early versions of the Taser used a gunpowder charge and are considered firearms. Taser has not made gunpowder powered Tasers in at least a decade, probably longer.

Stun guns, which are made by many different companys, must come into contact with the subject. Tasers can also function as stun guns.
