Pressure Obama Admin to defend 2nd amendment

The White House has a petition site that it is supposedly paying more attention to.

I started a petition that would use the fourteenth amendment to argue for nationally unrestricted exercise of the second amendment.

It is about civil rights and liberties. We live in one of the more restrictive states and should not have to suffer infringements on our constitutionally guaranteed endowments.

It only has sixty days to reach threshold so if you're interested, take a look and sign. http://wh.gov/g0l

    Thanks.

It is easier to get supporters when you avoid mixing topics. Make a petition that is specific to only the 2nd Amendment instead of dragging gay marriage and abortion into the discussion.

3 petitions, one per topic is much more effective then one petition on 3 topics.

Good idea, but keep it simple.

Single topic with a simple argument for it.

I think the Obama administration is going to take a very hands off approach to the 2A. All about politics.

I'm not sure petitions of any kind are very effective at all.

To vote I have to give the white house my name, age, and have to validate my email address.....

I'll stick to mailed letters, I don't want to receive email spam from the white house.

Start a petition called, "shall not be infringed": A repeal of the 68 GCA, 86 Hughes amendment, and nullify any state imposed restrictions on gun ownership (magazine capacity/NFA/state created "assault weapons")

that could get 5,000 signatures from thehighroad and calguns.

I'd rather Obama doesn't get the message on the 2A, so he offends more gun people, and loses the election. Because, even if he does everything we ever wanted 2A wise from now on, if he gets the opportunity to replace 1 of the Heller 5, its exceedingly likely the replacement will be anti-gun. That will do more to hurt gun rights than anything Obama can do policy wise.

Yeah, separate petitions are the way forward.

I wouldn't sign that one, even though the 2nd is part of it.

If 10,000,000 Americans sign the petition it will be spun as 290,000,000 Americans not signing it.

A petition in favor of something Obama is personally and professionally opposed to won't amount to anything. Votes in a handful of states next November are what matters.

Obamas administration has backdoored Congress with the FCC, EPA, appointment of "czars" for posts that should have to have congressional oversight. He has shoved all sorts of crap down our throats, things we don't want like Obamacare and stimulus bailouts. He is a political zealot, you really think he, and his leftist agenda care about a petition for a bunch of "nuts clining to their guns and bibles"? Nope.

Have you heard of Gun Runner / Fast and Furious yet?
I don't think O and friends will be paying any attention to a pro-gun petition.

It WOULD be MUCH easier, I wholeheartedly agree. This isn't intended to rehash the same argument that the second amendment is a constitutional right and should be respected as such. I'm trying to draw a comparison between the three issues. basically, if the government is going to defend the rights of legal citizens, defend them all; or if the government should stay out of individuals' lives, stay out of all aspects. It can't be had both ways.

I don't think that this would make anyone slap their forehead and exclaim, "Ugh, now I get it. Thank you for enlightening me." However, I do hope that it does start some discussion, particularly in the Democratic Party, regarding personal liberties.

                              Thanks for reading it though.
