When putting in the parts there are few that a bit tricky and might give you a hard time if you don't have the right tools. Punchs are essential in this!! Unless you wanna hammer your pins (I wouldn't recommend this!). Springs will fly...so get ready.

      Here's a funny story

Ordered 2 lowers and don't know a thing about putting these together. Called my little just for fun and asked her if she knew how to put a m16 together. She "Ya!!!, why?" I said "Really!!!!LOL!!" How long would it take? "About 5 to 10 minutes with eyes closed"

All I can say is...."Thank you U.S. Army for pounding in this info into my little sis."

I hate to break it to you, but she just knows how to do a standard field strip.

She won't be able to piece together your lower receiver the way you're thinking.

Right; we were very specifically told we were NOT allowed to disassemble the lower.

But some of us did anyway...

              Lessons Learned

For those of you assembling a lower, here are a few tips I learned from my first build.

1.) Go to the AR15.com and go to the build-it yourself forum. They have several step by step guides to building a lower. I'm pretty clueless with mechanical devices so they were very helpful.

2.) Do it in an enclosed space. I did mine in the bathroom. I had several springs shoot out of my lower as I was assembling it. I had the front detent and spring shoot around my bathroom several times.

3.) Keep your dog away from any parts that shoot out or drop. My dog tried to eat the buffer retainer after it came out. I had to dig it out of his mouth after he licked it out.

4.) Probably not a good idea to do it at 10 PM at night when your wife is sleeping. No matter how little noise you try and make, it will probably wake her up.

That is funny just thinking about it. Is it me or the DOJ website is'nt coming up. I'm trying to check the list but my computer is acting up. Don't know.

So if the lowers are now legal in California, why can't we just buy a complete rifle from one of these manufacturers and have it shipped to a FFL?

You can, but the FFL who sends it will have to fix a ten rd magazine to the off-list rifle to make it California legal. It's a hassle that most FFL's probably won't want to bother with when they can sell it un-neutered to a free state.

seems easy enough to put it together. .seems like hte hardest part is the trigger and such but theres not much there for that.... cant wait to tackle the first one..

The trigger is a breaze, its the rear takedown pin detent that might give you fits.
