Can I overnight my handgun to myself?

If I travel to Florida and don't want to check in luggage...Can I overnight my handgun to myself?

I believe that I can use UPS or FedEx overnight AM delivery of a handgun from myself to myself state to state. Is my understanding correct?

Yes you can. You may ship a gun to yourself, across state lines or intrastate, "for hunting or any lawful purpose".

This is ticklish with counterpeople however.

      I don't see why not.

I overnighted my Sig to the repair shop, they fixed it and overnighted it back to me... no worries...

It's especially something that is recommended to do when traveling with connecting flights into states where activity that is supposedly protected under the U.S. Constitution is prohibited, and safe passage isn't recognized, like NJ & NY (see Revell v. Port Authority of NJ & NY).

        Yup. Legal.
        Please read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Would any crime be committed if some hiccups occur such as, the gun beating you to your destination and somebody else has to receive it, you never make it to your destination and somebody else has to receive it and send it back, etc?

Wait... I asked this question back in July/August, and was told I couldn't b/c I wasn't an FFL, and FedEx and UPS had changed their policies. and only FFLs may legally use USPS for such a purpose.

Don't confuse legality vs the commercial shippers policy.

                  I ain't.

                  a) per federal law, you MUST inform the shipper.
                  b) i'm not sure if it's law, or practical, but one cannot put a label on the box that says it is a firearm.
                  c) if I must tell the truth, and the shipper says I cannot ship a handgun, then I cannot. the question in the OP was "can I"

I have done it several times. Not one issue.

correct, since it is not being shipped to an FFL, you MUST inform the shipper. And once you tell them that, then their rules come into effect. IIRC, UPS's new rules don't allow for shipments to yourself. One party must be an FFL to comply with UPS's rules. Now, having a C&R FFL would meet their rules, even if it was a modern handgun.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
