I was reading a followup story on the Carson City shootings and decided to read some of the comments. I ran across one that was pretty far outside even the normal anti-gun posts, so I followed a link that the poster provided.
It lead to a website for this man who is running for Congress in the newly formed California tenth district, which is apparently Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties. The link is:
Here is a portion of his position statement that is contained within a proposed bill to be introduced to overturn the second amendment to the constitution.
"Phase 2 - The Legislation, A Tax; Following adoption of the constitutional amendment, a bill to tax:
1. There is imposed an annual tax on each and every firearm in any household as follows:
a. first firearm, $10
b. second firearm, $20
c. third firearm, $30
d. fourth through ninth firearms, $100 each
e. firearms in excess of the ninth, $1,000 each."
Needless to say, this is not the kind of candidate we would like to see elected to Congress, so this is just to alert those members who may live within this Congressional district.
