Transferring beween family members from outside California

    I read this:

    and this

Does all that mean I can have the gun shipped to an FFL here in California even though it is not on the roster? Can it be brought into the state at all?

The firearm in question is a Colt Police Positive (or maybe an Official Police it been many years since I saw it)

A Colt Police Positive is over 50 years old, therefore C&R, therefore roster exempt. Most Colt Official Police revolvers are over 50 years old, you'd have to verify the date.
Otherwise, yes, an intrafamial transfer is also roster exempt. They still must be transferred through an FFL.

Thank you. I'll see if my usual FFL will handle the DROS and crap.

Can the sender ship directly to him or does it have to be FFL to FFL? I know when shippng to a gunsmith I can send it directly and he can send it back to me.

There are no laws, both Federal & state, that mandates FFL to FFL shipments only.

So, it is up to the recieving FFL dealer to decide on if they will accept shipments from individuals or from FFLs only.
