A stock saiga without evil features can use 30 round adult sized mags even if it is not registered as an aw. You my friend can evil feature yours up and still be fine.

Why not? As a registered AW you can have as many evil features as you want. You should install TWO pistol grips on that sucker just because you CAN.

Yes. In order to satisfy Federal laws, it should be 922r compliant once you start changing it from it's imported "sporting purpose" form.

If you assemble a long gun in such a way that it would not be importable, it would need to be 922(r) compliant. There is no law against you buying, selling or possessing a firearm that is not 922(r) compliant, just assembling it. Read the actual text of the law yourself. There are many firearms which were legally assembled prior to 922(r) becoming law and they are all still legal.

so 922 applies to manufacturing correct? what is considered manufacturing?
actually building it or would dissembling for a cleaning and putting it back together be considered manufacturing aswell?

Read the law. It uses the word "assemble" not "manufacture".

All my AKs came with Thumbhole stocks and converted to Pistol grip configuration.

This is what I did to all of them.

                        1) pistol grip
                        2) buttstock
                        3) FCG, "fire control group": trigger, hammer, sear <<(that's 3 parts)
                        4) upper/lower handguard (that's considered 1 part)

That's 6 US parts right there.

Stamped AK with muzzlbreak/flash hider is 16 parts.
Milled AK with MB/FH is 15 parts.
