Prop. H has passed. Are you S.F. residents going to turn in your guns for no compensation in April? What are the chances that it will be enforced? How will they force S.F. residents to turn in their guns? Of course they know where you live because of DROS.

Perhaps, but they have no idea whether your guns are still within the city limits. Who says you didn't go get a storage locker and stick 'em in a safe in there?

They won't be executing search warrants to see if you still have them without probable cause. Seems to me that this amounts to don't ask don't tell.

There is a court hearing in Feb. SF has already agreed tp postpone enforcement unitil March as oppossed to Jan 1 2006. I would wait before moving your pistols out of the city.

Has this ever been enforced anywhere in the U.S.? Anyplace where a city banned handguns and the local LEOs or feds went door to door to confiscate the arms? Besides the crap that was pulled in N.O. which i still find hard to believe, but it did happen.

No I don't. Probable cause means probable cause to believe that you've committed a crime. That's what it takes to get a warrant. Purchasing a gun is not a crime under this rule. It's only a rime to possess, sell or buy a handgun in SF. There's also some language about ammo.

Either way, a DROS it not, in and of itself evidence of a crime and they can't search your residence on the basis that you have a DROS in your name.

I know some SF cops and they are adamant that they will not enforce this law so I don't think it's gonna have teeth.

I think the police should stop carrying guns in the city as well.

I agree with you. But, when it comes down to brass tacks, it's only one liberal judge that has to believe in probable cause.

Well, either way, if any SF residents want to sell any handguns, post 'em here and we'll take a look.

Perhaps, but it's gonna be one bent-outta-shape cop asking for the warrant.

                        I don't think it'll happen.

well, since guns have been banned, it should be a safe and happy city and citizens will have no need to protect themselves since there will be no more gun related crimes and it is the job of the SFPD to guarantee public safety. True or False

                            True!!!
There will be no more wierd looking gun nuts walking around toting their guns at us. They will leave the city (finally!) We all know guns are bad right? The police are always there! They will be there in a second just before me being bludgen to death, while I'm on the phone!! Even though criminals don't buy their guns legally, taking guns away..will..err... be better for all of us because criminals won't have any!! As long as I'm high on mj, I won't have to worry about that! Guns are bad!! At least guns won't be in the city, but bombs aren't a problem to fix at the local starbucks!

You all know thats sarcasm right?

                            I will vote for a donkey-sex maniac if he's pro-gun.

The SFPOA is opposed to Prop H and endorsed the opposition to H. They just didn't get the turnout in Nov. to counter the wacko nut cases who support Daly. The police won't go door-to-door and take people's guns. Most likely, if they happen to see a gun in your home while they are there for other reasons, then they would take it, but how many gun owners in SF leave their handguns laying around the house? Many people will have their handguns stored outside the city or just keep quiet.
