The future of current CA Laws.....

What do You think is the future of : Ca handgun list, magazine laws , BB's etc?

After reading about it over and over and over..... I still don't have a clear picture. ( And I am not stupid either)

Do You think all that stuff will go away?

Without a lot of effort, I don't think the prognosis is very good considering the demographics of CA. We do much better in states where there is a relatively even population distribution across the entire state so that state laws more accurately represent the consensus of the entire state. But in a state like California, NY, New Jersey et al, the very high population density in localized areas skews both election results and consequent legislation. Geographically, most of California is rural, but politically, most of the legislation and regulation serves mostly urban, not rural interests.

IMO, in the long run, the only way to turn this around is to convince liberals in CA that supporting the Second Amendment has nothing to do with being a conservative or a liberal and everything to do with being an American. In the short run, perhaps this point should be driven home to every county sheriff that comes up for election or re-election.

States with dense populations like CA have a lot of gangsters, it is epidemic in areas. The politicians and public associate guns with gangsters and criminals. The politicians and police chiefs feed into this with help from the Brady Bunch. What needs to be separated out of the hysteria is that honest and legal gun ownership and CCWs have zero to do with gun violence. Nothing! But the Brady's and other a-holes try to provoke the masses by saying guns in general are bad and the root of all evil.

The positive statistics of CCWs and gun ownership by law abiding citizens needs a to be publicized often, in all media and political events so the sheeple, politicians and police chiefs can see more guns laws and restrictions have zero to do with the crime gangsters and criminals perpetrate.

Then, maybe then, CA will get it's head out of it's butt.

Be prepared to wait a long time. As Jack L pointed out - our legislature (and population) is influenced by gang violence and a hippie "gun free utopia" vision. There is no shortage of anti gun legislation spewing from the legislature, and defeating it is difficult at best.

On the legal side, the recent Nordyke ruling by our beloved 9th Circuit should give you a clue what we are up against. Bottom line, they think "rational basis" is good enough unless the law creates a substantial burden on self defense. Furthermore, they defer to the legislature in evaluating evidence. Preposterous!

To win, we will either need to find a lower court that is reasonable (like we did with AB962), or take it to the SCOUTS. The Nordyke case also showed us how the 9th can delay and obstruct our path to the SCOUTS. The most expedient path may be in SCOUTS wins outside the 9th.

We are in for a very long battle.
