    Serial # question: non-Arabic numerals

I've just had a thought. Fellows, suppose I built an AR-15 from an 80% lower, and wrote a make, model, and serial number on it. Is there any reason I'd be legally required to write the number with Arabic numerals? What if, instead, I'd rather do it in Egyptian or Mayan hieroglyphs, or Tengwar?

I am of course aware that, in a worst-case scenario, it might make cops mad when they couldn't read the serial number by glancing at it, and it therefore might result in the cop cuffing me. But what I'm asking is, would they be able to charge me with anything after they brought me down to the station and deciphered the serial number?

My immediate thought is Braille "If you can read this, you're too close."

I would think a hieroglyph would more likely just be considered a "logo".

IIRC it would not meet the BATFE regulations regarding proper serial markings.

That of course wouldn't be an issue, as homemade weapons don't need markings. Only time an issues would arise would be if you ever sold the gun or converted it to say an NFA weapon, which would require to mark the weapon properly.

Ah, okay. That's exactly what I was asking, thanks.

I recognize Avogadro's Number (first) and the speed of light (last), but I had to google the other two.

                      2.) Planck's Constant

3.) 1 Dalton or Atomic Mass Unit (AMU)

Not surprising, I'm pretty well versed in chemistry. I've never taken any physics.

                          LOL, Avogadro's number. Goober wins.

I was thinking of putting an Eye of Horus on each side of the magazine well. What make and model would Horus put on his AR-15 if he had one? Or maybe I'll write "If you can read this, I shot you 3,000 years ago."

Why would he want 2009 on it?
