Why isn't this on the front page of every Newspaper ? 100 years ago this would be treason why don't people wake up ? If you or I did this it would be the bust of the year but they do it and they do some phony investigation that will get swept under the rug.

Don't get carried away. The House and Senate are investigating the BATFE due to the "Gunrunner" thing.

I do understand and hope they do a through investigation I just have my doubts when the Government investigates itself and has a self interest in NOT having negative facts come out about this case. I can see it now "On the advice of my legal council I plead the 5th amendment Sir". I pray I am wrong about this.

Generally, I agree with you. But in this case, BATFE doesn't have a lot friends in congress. They are generally viewed by many there as at best, a necessary evil.

In the past there were at least 2 attemps to disband BATFE and transfer the people to other agencies. The fly in the ointment was that fact that no other agency wanted them. Hopefully, congress will have been pushed too far this time.

If I were conspiracy minded I'd think that BoBo engineered this scandal so he could get BATFE under Homeland Security control. The laws that BATFE enforces are not going to go away just becasue the agency does. Someone will enforce those laws. Personally I do not really want an army of BATFE agents hiding behind the Patriot Act.

Other than the TSA, most other federal agencies take greater care with silly details such as "constitutional rights" than the BATFE does. I'd be more comfortable with the FBI taking over some of the ATF's responsibilities for example.
