I know that I can have my handgun and loaded magazines together in a closed, locked container in my car. I carry a daypack and have mine in one of the pockets with the zippers locked together. No different than a padded notebook case. My question is, can I take that out of the car and walk in public with it, locked of course, and if so, are there area restrictions I need to be aware of, like schools? Is it legal to take into public places like restaurants or cafe's?
