Get up. Call the White House.

The Brady Campaign's Paul Helmke has been tapdancing over President Obama's recent Op-Ed in the Arizona Daily Star requesting a series of meetings with pro and anti-gun stakeholders in search of "commonsense" gun legislation.

He believes that President Obama has heard the plea of the Brady Campaign and is now going to work to enact "strong legislation" to reduce gun deaths - mostly by banning "assault clips" and closing the "gun show loophole".

He's encouraging people to call the White House and thank the President.

Tell the President: "Thank you, and please support legislation to ban assault clips and close the gun show loophole."
I'd like to encourage you to call the White House and request the President object to any additional gun control schemes. I'd like you to encourage the President to enforce penalties against those who violate our existing laws, to go after bad people, not law abiding gun owners.

Please call the White House at 202-456-1111 and tell the President:
"Please support Law Enforcement and go after criminals with guns - not law abiding gun owners. Please reject the schemes of the Brady Campaign."

We must oppose the Antis wherever we find them. Be must be proactive - but also reactive. We must lend our voice to our cause. We must stand up and be counted.

We're winning. But we could make greater strides if simply HALF of all gun owners would simply bother to show up.

    Please. Make the call.

    Let's finish this thing.

Instead of that smoke break or Starbucks run, take a quick few minutes to step outside with your cellphone and let your voice be heard.

As a member of the Brady Campaign (well, I'm on their mailing list, and they hit me for donations all the time, doesn't that make me a member?), I feel it is my obligation to call the WH tomorrow.

              Done and Done

Even this early, the line was busy for a few calls. Hold time was not too bad. Tried to be brief.

Also, used the www.whitehouse.gov comment page to reinforce my statement. Interesting, that the spellcheck at www.whitehouse.gov show "Obama" as misspelled.

Just read the AZ article. It appears as though Mr. President should work on doing background checks and waiting periods to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels as many more americans die from drunk drivers.
