good find, definitely something we'd want to bring up in opposition. He has vetoed bills this year based on their detriment to small CA businesses, so let's cross our fingers.

      Thank you, Sir.

What kind of STASI BS is this... Wow, my fingerprint and all of my personal info. How about a saliva sample and voice recording, too? It really makes me shake my head how treasonous Deleon is.

Thats crazy. They just hold it for another year? Why dont they just burn it down and slap de leon in the face and say "no more ammo bills dummy!" And what was with all the talk of this on its way to the governors desk?

SB 124 was not passed this year. SB 427 did pass, and is on its way to the Governor. This thread is about SB 427.

The complete lack of commentary on this by the right people has me pretty excited.

I saw this interesting tidbit on De Leon's website in the "bio" section...

. That permit would cost less than a fishing license and would prevent an estimated half million rounds of ammunition being sold to criminals every year in this state."

I realize the "permit" and "background check" didn't make it into SB 427, but it may be an indication of what is really going in DeLeon's head.

The major problem with that thinking (well, ONE of the major problems), is that California is not an island.

I find it interesting that sales of alcohol over the Internet are not impeded. I wonder what the amount of drunk driving deaths by teenagers getting alcohol through the mail is compared to the amount of shooting deaths from teenagers buying ammo through the mail.

I wish they could attach a rider to SB427 and make it the Alcohol and Ammunition bill. Attach the same restrictions to alcohol purchases. I doubt that would pass.

Don't be so sure it would fail...there seems to be quite a few states that already ban internet sales of alcohol, so our state might actually be behind the curve for once in curbing freedoms. Here's an unverified list that I found elsewhere: States currently banning online alcohol sales are: Alabama, North Carolina, Arkansas, New Jersey, Arizona, New York, Connecticut, Ohio, District of Columbia, Oklahoma, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Florida, Puerto Rico, Georgia, Rhode Island, Hawaii, South Carolina, Indiana, South Dakota, Kansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas, Massachusets, Utah, Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, and Vermont.

There are lots of wineries in CA with online sales. It would be bad for business. We can't have that. Many of our liberal legislators represent the winery regions.

My point about the requirement for a permit to purchase ammunition is that it could actually reduce sales to prohibited persons, while SB427 in its current form will not.

I'm not sure how those laws read exactly, but it is probably a restriction on in-state vendors from shipping alcohol. Probably not a restriction on the consumer level.

Where do you see this information? Is there a site i can look at that shows all 600 bills and their statuses? I'm curious to see what kind of laws people are trying to enact.
