I Open Carried all day, every day for a number of years in a busy, crowded, public urban environment.

Not once did anyone ever get the drop on me (or even try) in a situation like what you are describing. If anything, I think the visible presence of my weapon reduced the likelihood of a variety of criminal foolishness.

On two occasions individuals tried to take my weapon, but neither was even close to successful.

Granted, in my case the weapon was loaded, but I don't think the BGs could tell the difference, and I don't think the extra weight helped with retention.

My experience was not unique. There are a large number of people who LOC every day, and statistically, what you are suggesting just doesn't happen.
Then, you've just been lucky. We had a recent incident of four uniformed & armed police officers being killed by one BG in a coffee shop a little south of Tacoma. I can't imagine a greater deterrent, but it didn't much matter, in this case. So, yeah, it does happen -- open carry gives you little, if any, advantage.

That's called 1) looking to kill cops 2) cops being in condition white 3) not caring about his own life.

If you kill cops, you're a dead man walking.

Open carriers should never be in condition white, as they are mostly never with other open carriers, have no backup, and maybe at an added level of responsibility with wife and kid(s) in tow.

It is not luck that non-LEO OCers aren't being victimized, except for only one example anyone can find.

San Benito has a population under 200,000 (56,000 approx).

So, legally you could get a license to carry loaded and exposed. It would however only be valid inside San Benito county.

If you haven't seen it with your own eyes,
or heard it with your own ears,
don't make it up with your small mind,
or spread it with your big mouth.

I think one of the CGF guys said that there is not a single <200k load/expose permit active in CA.
