    Refused/Refund?

When I was taking my CCW class, we were informed that if something was found in our background check that disqualifies you, there would be no refund. You would only be refunded if nothing turned up on your background check, but the sheriff of the county still rejects you.

This was put forth as an example of how important it is to be accurate on your application. Even if you were once convicted of a crime, but had the conviction taken off your record by way of attorney, you must still list it.

Can they keep your $250 if they find something on your background check to disqualify you?

Just a FYI, my background is squeaky clean.

They can only collect a small portion of the total fee upfront, not the whole $250.

      ^This.

If they overcollected, let me know. We're pretty effective at teaching sheriffs lessons.

Can anyone direct me to the language explaining when and how much they may collect?

        Thank you.
