I love using combo locks- no tool to lose, you can make the combo the same for each, and there's nothing illegal about leaving them one number off on one or two dials for quick access (I don't like leaving the dials one number off on only one dial, as it could too easily be accidentally brushed to the "open" position).

Unlocked in the tank bag doesn't make sense to me even if it's legal. It's unlikely to me that you'll be able to operate the average handgun wearing motorcycle gloves, and if you ride a motorcycle without gloves you are quite frankly an idiot.

This is from one rural area to another, not passing near any schools etc. The idea behind unlocked in the tank bag is lack of hassle, not use on the bike. I ride (a lot), and would almost ride without a helmet before riding without gloves.

For sportbike riders I assume it is okay the handgun under my seat cowl (for passenger) which has a lock. In WA that is how a couple of friends carried as most handguns should fit under the rear seat.

        Is this legal?

Is all else I could carry in a backpack which is how I carry my laptop to work.

I agree with you. Seems CA gun owners are on the quieter side compared to OR and WA gun owners. I can say that because I have lived, shot, and met people in those states. I met a quiet gun owner the other day...He just got a shotty and is the dad of one my AE's. Got all hush and quiet when we started talking guns.

CA is full of Democrats and will always have a huge population of them...As long as this is a true statement we will always have this weird laws.

Don't deny it fellas. Look at yourselves in the mirror and ask yourself when was the last time you got into with someone about our gun rights? Every day right here...I vote for the people who support MY rights and I spread the reasons why we all should be responsible, armed, citizens. However, I am only one of a few...

Educate everyone you meet if you can...At least get them thinking. We all share this passion and should spread the word whenever you can.

No hate but just frustrated at some of the laws...Just weird to say the least.

I don't know, since it is a standard part of the bike could it be considered a "utility compartment" or even a "glove compartment"? If so, you might run into this snag from 12026.1:

            (1) The firearm is within a motor vehicle and it is locked in the
vehicle's trunk or in a locked container in the vehicle other than
            the utility or glove compartment
            .

An unloaded handgun, in the tankbag with the tankbag locked is gtg.

I prefer having the handgun in a locked case inside the tankbag, but either way you're in the clear.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.
