    Gallup Poll Nov 2010: Continuing Record-Low Support for Stricter Gun Control

    For the second year in a row, a record-low 44% of Americans say laws governing the sale of firearms should be made more strict, while 42% say gun laws should be kept as they are now. Twelve percent say gun laws should be made less strict.


    PRINCETON, NJ -- For the second year in a row, a record-low 44% of Americans say laws governing the sale of firearms should be made more strict, while 42% say gun laws should be kept as they are now. Twelve percent say gun laws should be made less strict.

    The most significant differences in support for stricter gun laws are along political lines. More than 6 in 10 Democrats and liberals favor stricter gun laws -- compared with 31% and 26% among conservatives and Republicans, respectively.

      So far in the last 6 months I have taken 2 lefties shooting. Both have changed their positions on gun control. One bought a gun and takes other lefties shooting in an effort to change their minds on gun control.

        As with most things, the easiest way to convert someone on guns is to transform guns from abstract into concrete. Once you realize how predictable, controllable, and fun guns are, your whole outlook on them changes completely. Good work on this. I've been converting the people at work. I think I've succeed with many of them already.

          So in short most people don't really believe the anti gun crap, they just buy into it as part of the identity politics package.

              They probably don't realize how well victim disarmament, in all its forms, works. For criminals, that is.

                  Yeah, I don't think a lot of people in constitutional carry states have much of a problem with their current gun laws, other than maybe '86 and NFA. There's also a number of other states that may not have constitutional carry, but are a lot more lax regarding their open carry laws, ownership laws, and ability to get CCWs, that most owners in California would be perfectly happy to get, and call them "reasonable".

                          When people start to use their brains instead of their hearts and use reasonable thought they tend to see what gun control is, control and nothing else.
                          I like to point out from the beginning gun control is racist. It was a way to control the freed slaves, and how that continues today. Except without chains, it's with gun control and the democrats who keep the ghetto the way it is and keep them suckling from the governments teet.
