SANTA CRUZ - Two men were arrested Friday on the 1600 block of Branciforte Drive, where authorities said they found meth, drug paraphernalia and a Ruger assault rifle.
About 7 p.m., Santa Cruz police and sheriff's deputies arrested David Archuleta, 28, of Scotts Valley and Jonathan Replogle, 27, of Santa Cruz County.
A tip led police to Replogle's main residence on Branciforte, said Santa Cruz police spokesman Zach Friend, in a statement. Both men showed signs of being under the influence of stimulants and narcotics, police said.
Authorities said they were arrested without incident.
Archuleta is a felon who has had drug-related arrests and had outstanding warrants for his arrest, police said. He was staying at the Branciforte house, police said.
Authorities said they also found prescription Oxycontin pills at the residence, as well as pepper spray and a Ruger Mini-14 rifle loaded with a high-capacity magazine.
Archuleta was arrested on suspicion of drug possession, possession of pepper spray by a convicted felon, being under the influence of drugs, police said.
Replogle was arrested on suspicion of drug possession, being under the influence of drugs, possession of a firearm by a narcotic addict, possession of ammunition by a narcotic addict and possession of an assault rifle.
Santa Cruz police ask anyone with information on the incident to call the tip line at 420-5995.
