Curious about current law regarding Stag 15

Hello everyone, I recently came across this site after a friend had referred me to calguns. I live in LA county and I have been doing my research and am a bit confused. I just wanted to know if it is still legal for me to purchase a stag 15 lower and upper, with pistol grip, flash suppressor etc. Of course I would have the bullet button and a 10 round mag. But i have been reading and I found this on the cadoj website and was wondering if this includes the stag 15.
What are AK and AR-15 series weapons and how are they controlled?

"Any firearm which is a variation, with minor differences, of the AK or AR-15 type (i.e., series weapon), regardless of manufacturer, is an assault weapon under the original Roberti-Roos Assault Weapons Control Act of 1989. These assault weapons are listed by the Department of Justice in the California Code of Regulations, Title 11, Chapter 12.9, Section 979.11 (11 CCR 979.11)"

I have read the kasler list and it is not listed. I called and found a lower but I just need a little help with this decision. I want to be able to take my gun to the range and not have it confiscated and end up with a felony. Thank you for your help.

Your Stag is just fine with a BB...as you correctly stated, it is not on the banned list. Types of uppers you would be looking for are not regulated, except for barrel length, so you can slap just about any upper on you want.

Yeah I figured it was legal cause I didn't see it on the list, I just want to be completely safe and make sure that I don't get hassled by a frightened police officer. I want to keep the specific parts from the DOJ list with my rifle in it's case to try and avoid hassle.

Have you ever had any problems taking it to a range with your BB?

The 'series' language was struck down by the CA Supreme Court decision Harrot v. County of Kings in 2001, but the AW ID guide was never updated to reflect that.

Okay now I get it, that is all I was having trouble with when trying to make this decision. Thanks for your all your help and I am now very excited about purchasing my first rifle.

When you get it, bring it to Angeles Range & on any given day see the 100 others there..
