Protest the Brady Campaign with your phone

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate spot for this in these forums, so if it isn't, mods please feel free to move or delete.

Some of you may have heard about the Brady Campaign trying to strong arm a restaurant chain in San Francisco to barring open carriers from meeting there. They have demanded that the restaurant ban firearms, and if they don't the Bradys have threatened to protest in front of their establishment. Talk about trying to strong arm someone! In any case, I am trying to do something about it. I know it probably wont change anything, nor do I think it will stop the Bradys from being extreme anti gun folks, but I'm hoping that if we get enough people to speak out against these bullying tactics that they will think twice about doing it again. If you would like more information about what is going on I did a write up about it on my blog here.

Or go to the original article here.

What I am calling for is for concerned citizens to call the Brady Campaign and leave a message respectfully calling for an end to strong arm tactics. The Brady Campaign can be reached at this number 202-898-0792. Again, if you do wish to participate I urge you to be respectful and give gun owners a good name. Leaving a screaming ranting message will do no good, but we have to speak out against these tactics of coercion. Thanks guys.

Is that a message line or does a live person answer? Also, can I use your phone... personally I don't like the idea of the Brady people having my phone number on their caller ID.

You can leave a message by pressing one. Not only did I call them, I left my number for them to call me back.

I'll use my google voice number. Thanks for doing the homework. I am sure that with these people it won't mean much, but it can't hurt to leave a friendly message.

Yes sir. I'm hoping that this will make SOMEONE think about it from our perspective. They can disagree if they choose, but it's in very bad taste for them to strong arm this business into doing what they want.

I called and very kindly said something along the lines of... "you guys haven't been getting all the best press lately. I don't see how doing this protest is going to make people want to listen to you any more than they have been."

            What the heck, right.... LOL!

Thank you brother. I am hoping they will be getting a lot more calls soon. Can you imagine their faces when they come in Monday morning to see all these calls on their answering machine? lol

I seriously doubt the Brady campaign will see their method as "strong arming." The UOC crowd is making a political statement, the bradyites are replying with theirs.

I doubt they will see it that way too, but that is what they are doing. That's why we ought to let them know how the rest of America feels about their tactics.

The calls cold be useful, but the Bradyites and the LCAVers do not like the light of day.

Most all of us gunnies use our real names at public meetings and on the web, and our phyiscal appearance is publicly available in various photos/movies here, etc. We don't hide from our beliefs and are proud to elucidate them.

If the antis had the courage of their convictions, they'd be the same way. During the Oakland city council hearings about an LCAV/ABAG-driven package of bad laws, the antis wouldnt even stand up or acknowledge they were for or against the 2nd Amendment.

So shine the cold clear light of day on these antis: you'll find the soccer moms scatter (except perhaps one or two hardcore ones) when they are photographed and/or are videod and their license plates noted.

Note that the people doing this encounter work should NOT be UOCing, and should NOT be transporting ANY firearms or ammo or even knives on them or in their vehicles. These 'media exposure' individuals should be well-dressed and well-spoken, and should smile and be friendly and nonaggressive during photography/video work. Do NOT try to audiorecord private conversations, etc. Do NOT follow them all the way home. No threats should be made, but continue to question them, "If you believe so strongly about this matter, why aren't you willing to go on record?" , etc.

Any LEOs visiting the scene and asking what the purpose of the recording is should simply say, "This is public space: this is a political dialogue about public policy, and video recording of events in public spaces where there is no expectation of privacy is entirely legal. We want to, and have a right to, identify who our political opponents are; we're interested in separating the local folks from external agitators. We have no secrets ourselves and are glad to be videoed and we wonder why they don't have the courage of their convictions to do so..... my name is <Joe Blow>, my Facebook page is at X"", etc.

This is precisely why I left a message with my real name and my real phone number. I was totally respectful, and I hope, made a compelling point. I hope they will call me back so that we may open up a dialogue, but I doubt they will. Please join me in leaving a message at their number!

A 1-800 number would cost them real money. But make sure the messages are not just spam.

I say we find out when they are going to do it and have an open carry and 2A promotion at the same place at the same time.

Strictly to educate those fine, wonderful people about how we are responsible gun owners, of course.I would drive up to Frisco for that.

That's not a bad idea. I hate to think of the lies they are spreading unchecked when I see then with their "info" tables out in town.
