LEO wants to come in and check out my house after finding out were gun owners.

I went to a build party yesterday to build my Egyptian Maadi kit. My wife took the kids to our neighbors kid's Birthday party. I specifically told her not to talk to anyone about our firearms as it's no one else's business. She insisted I was just paranoid. The new neighbor is an on call rookie LEO in Williams.

So wife goes to the party with my brother in law, and when the neighbor asks where I am the wife tells him "He's at a build party to make an AK, but she's not supposed to tell him because I'm paranoid". Then my BIL tells him "yeah he's a gun nut and has tons of guns". The LEO freaks and says that he needs to come into our apartment to check it out. And also wants to know why I think I need to own guns. Wife told him too bad guns are stored off site as we couldn't anchor the gun safe down in the apartment.

Good news is that the wife no longer thinks I'm paranoid. What is the bad news?

Only firearms in the apartment are handguns in a gunvault bolted to the bed. Longuns are stored in my gun safe anchored down at a family members property. Do I need to be worried? I installed a mag lock this morning and then removed my grip wrap as I assume that maybe LEO's might be more familiar with mag locks than featureless builds, or should I just go with a mag locked featureless build?

You don't need to be scared, because frankly you should tell him that if he wants to step one foot in your house, he needs to get a search warrant because you do not consent to his search. If he insists, get a lawyer and them ask what reasonable cause they have to search your property. Do not let him into your house....bottom line.

What i mean by this is that the law works both ways. I personally would not put a bullet button on a featureless rifle for the sake of making an LEO happy. Its your rifle its legal, and knowing the law helps you. If the LEO does not well then thats on him.

First, keep your firearms properly secured so that kids do not have access to them. Then, tell the MORON to get a warant! Tell him that you don't have anything illegal but, you are not going to allow an illegal and unjustified search either. Finally, you really need to get a lawyer and/or put in a formal complaint to his department for harassment. If he keeps insisting, try to get a restraining order against him. You need to fight fire with fire here. Maybe, his home need to be searched too?????

It used to be easy to find. All you had to do was look for Dixie the Dinosaur. Unfortunately, it's gone now. Anyway, it's just west of Sac.

How so? He only mentioned a bullet button and grip wrap, what law does he have no concept of? I'm not being a dick just wondering if I'm missing something here since I am looking for an AK variant sometime in the future.
