A Victim Disarmer Walks Into a Gun Rights Conference...

A Factchecker Walks Into a Gun Rights Conference...
NRA members say they're pro-diversity. As a black woman surrounded by friendly white gun-owners, why am I nervous?

I would say her nervousness stems from insecurity and projection mostly....

When told resources are used to track 99% of lawful people and only 1% are used to track criminals...

I factchecked this, and the answer is: Not exactly. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives found that states with tougher gun laws in fact export the guns used in crimes (PDF) at a much lower rate than states with weak gun laws. That is, those illegal guns handled by criminals and confiscated at crime scenes are most often traced back to states that don't do background checks for all guns purchased at gun shows [CLICK HERE FOR MOJO'S ARTICLE ON GUN SHOWS], that don't require purchase permits, that don't prosecute gun dealers who violate background check laws, and that don't allow local law enforcement to approve or deny conceal carry permits. Findings confirm that regulations do deter criminals from getting guns

The problem with that is California and IICR New York are on that list. So when you add in population / consumer market / high crime ghettos you find that States with higher populations, + Higher Crime Rates + Large Amounts of LEGAL firearms sales will export the same amount of illegal firearms as a State with no gun laws.

It sounds to me like she's got a deep rooted anti gun bias that's really choking her. She doesn't like the uncomfortable challenge.

I have to wonder how I can trust a "factchecker" who's article is just tripping with snark and bias?

It's not like the audience was cherry-picked like Barry's town hall meetings are, it's just whoever was able to show up. I'm somewhat surprised that she pushed the lack of diversity followed up by thoroughly covering Nikki's speech.

Oh yeah, there's the Chicago v. McDonald case where the pro-civil rights community rallied together to ensure that an African-American man, along with EVERYONE in Chicago regardless of ethnicity, can legally own a handgun for self defense.

Alan Gottlieb is described as "a legal pirhana"!

The "report" she used to "Fact-Check" Gottlieb's assertion was a press release from NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns. It didn't recieve any peer review and it wasn't published anywhere but by MAIG.

That whole website is filled with fail in their articles.

"Support media that tells the truth and drives national conversation."

Seems like the only truth their reporting is ones rooted in a leftist bias.
