Question on sale of Muzzle Breat out of the US.

    Question?
Does anyone know if the export of a Bennie Cooley muzzle brake out of the USA to Finland is ok? I have an offer to sell one to someone in Finland. The value is under $100. Out of curiosity I asked Brownells if they would export the same item to Finland and they said yes. Wondering if anyone can point me to any online documentation to verify this!

    Thanks!

NO! Do not export any firearms parts. They are regulated as munitions under ITAR, and with few exceptions cannot legally be exported without a license.

Brownells has an export license so they can export small gun parts. I don't think a private individual can without a permit.

Contact a lawyer or better yet call DOJ and Customs. They'll be able to tell you the definite answer.

Contact info for DOJ or customs? This is what Brownells states:

There are a number of items which Brownells sells which need US State Department approval and an export license before they can be shipped out of the country. The regulations are complex and constantly changing but our staff is here to help you understand what is needed and will gladly work with you to correctly accomplish the task.

Generally speaking, items which usually need a license are:

        •Frames
        •Receivers
        •Barrels
        •Barrel Liners
•Various other gun parts such as triggers, sears, ejectors, magazine tubes, scopes, and other items if the ordered amount is over $100.00 US

          Take note of the phrasing:

          generally speaking
various other gun parts ... and other items
Also note that Brownells is not a lawyer. They're also not your lawyer.

Finally, is "less than $100" worth a visity by ATF? I've heard that they can be hard on the furniture.

Get written permission from Customs/DOJ/ATF first.

Thaks guys I think i am going to back out of this. Selling that muzzle brake is not worth the $80 that I am selling it for.

            Thanks again!
