    Replacement gun, new serial number???

So a friend of mine had his 1911 act up too many times. After having it sent to the manufacturer a total of 3 times, it continued to have the same problems.

On his last 'warranty-covered' repair, he wrote a letter about how upset he was and that they best replace the gun with a new one to finally solve the problem.

Well he got his pistol back, a brand new replacement from his other. Same model and all, but a different serial number
at least that's what he said...
He's not sure what to do here... advice please

Also note, it was sent directly to HIM at his house (nothing out of the ordinary if it was a repair of his gun, but a new one not yet DROS'ed??)

It's only a real big problem if he has a CCW and that's one of the guns on it

Well I was in the same boat but with a long gun and I had to DROS it again. They would not send it to my house. The manufacturer does have the ability to do it at the factory without him doing anything but it is rarely done.

Just submit a voluntary registration form to DOJ to avoid any complicatons or sentence enhancements should you find yourself in hot water or your gun taken as evidence for any situation, such as a self defense shooting. If there in no record in AFS (California's firearms database), it is MUCH harder to get your firearm released to you, even though there is no requirement in California that handguns be "registered" per se.

I had this happen to me as well. A Calguns group buy on a defective lower. After the manufacturer received my lower for repairs, they offered me an upgrade, I accepted but informed the manufacturer that it would double the cost to re-DROS a new lower. To make things right, the manufacturer ended up sending my newly re-tooled and refinished lower and for the cost of DROS, a shiny new custom EGA logoed billet lower as well. SI Defense has great customer service.

DROS the gun (PC 12078 exempt form 10 day wait in this case).

Glock replaced 4 of my frames with new ser. #'s (frame rail recall issue), I also sent them the bill for the DROS fees, Glock reimbursed me in full for the cost of the 4 DROS.
