    May23rd cheat sheet

OK Calguns I wanted to start a thread for tomorrow with the thought of giving fast intel and have a place to coordinate out efforts by posting numbers called/faxed by each member and giving intel on responses by the assembly and senates phone reps.

There are 2 lists of legislatures, the first is the assembly with 79 people who represent the citizens. the Bradys are going to try and talk them into backing 3 bills so we need to call them with a basic message of "Please support the 2nd amendment", "Please dont punish law abiding gun owners, punish the thieves", "As a 2nd amendment supporter I want you to kill any bill that the bradys want to pass", etc, etc. The second list is of the Senate and there are 40 of them to call/fax with the same massage above and the thought is to waste the Bradys $$ flow and block any attempt by them to start any new gun laws in our state.

    Assembly:http://www.calnra.com/legs/asm.shtml (79)
    Senate http://www.calnra.com/legs/sen.shtml (40)

If we each hit a few law makers I think this will go easy!

If you folks see anything I missed please PM me for changes so we can keep the thread clean for the rally.

Here is the ARFCOM thread Dr Fridge started in the GD: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=579147 Fell free to kick up some dust in there.

Ask them, straight out, "Which are you giving more credence to, the lobbyist from out of State or the concerns of a citizen in your District? Who's voice should you listen to?"

I am never confrontational when I call my Reps, but I do make sure they know I am not a paid caller or someone from elsewhere, I live right here on the streets they are representing.

        Just got off the phone

They wanted bill numbers and descriptions (Torrico and Corbett). Also, to verify that I lived in their district.
        Please, join the NRA.

Johnny, you tell them you may not be in the district but anything the Brady do effects you no matter which district you live in.

So pick an address with Google maps that corresponds with their district boundaries before you call

Tell 'em you just moved and you filed your voter registration (as nonpartisan - gotta be a valuable 'swing voter') a couple of days ago.

Question: do we focus on Assembly as priority or give equal weight to assembly and senate?

I completely understand that the NRA wants these items to go their way but I will read the individual bills and vote accordingly.

What are we sheep that just repeat what ever the NRA says?

They'll always try this on you to make you go away, but the proper response is: "I may not live in your district, but you are writing laws that affect my rights, so yes, you will hear from me."

I just called a few dozen on each side of the fence and none of them really gave me any hassle about where I was from.

                              I typically said:
"Good morning/afternoon. My name is Derek and I'm calling to oppose any new regulations against firearms - particularly AB ..... Thank you for hearing me out."

then they say thank you for calling office of... and have a nice day.

                              .. repeat.
