If you are active duty, and your residence is in another state, and you are stationed in CA, then you may bring your personal firearms and if they are an AW register them as an AW in CA. There is a form to fill out and I believe you need your CO's or base CO's approval.

What if I'm a CA voter/ home of record? I grew up all my life in So cal. joined the NAVY.

I got into shooting sports recently, and collecting military rifles. I had no intention of ever coming back to CA after I found out about the lack of 2nd amendment rights of law abiding citizens. At the time and my current job rating it was very easy to avoid CA orders, up until the war and ever changing Military evolution.

I did make the decision to keep voting in CA as long as possible to curb the liberalism our state is facing.

From what I remember last time I wrote the DOJ about this, I don't think it matters that you have California as your home state of residence. As long as you're Active Duty, you can obtain an AW permit by filling out a form, paying fees, and supplying DOJ with copy of your current AD PCS orders for CA. You're not really registering them though, its a permit which you'll have to renew every few years with proof of current military orders stationing you in CA.

If you come off AD, either retiring from the service or switching to Guard/Reserves, and decide to stay/return to CA... then you'll be unable to renew your permit once it expires. You'll have to sell, turn in, or if they're OLL convert them to legal configurations same as Joe Blow civy!

        Hope this helps!

I never bothered to pay a fee to have my fee rights errr free rights infringed because I am PCS'd to this awful state. Roll the dice, it is your choice. I survived. $70 for more ammo for the hi caps.

Well I guess this would be the case. I'm still really mad about paying a fee becuase the Military/government is forcing me back. I will becuase I am a law abiding citizen and my security clearence is on the table.

I'm still going to contact the law office I have found and see what they say. There has to be a loop hole or a lawsuit waiting.

It's not like I only have one, I have about 7, so a permit fee per rifle is going to be salt in the wound.

I don't think it was a seperate fee for each firearm... I think its just a paperwork fee, in which you can list all your firearms on one form for one fee... be 1 or 7 firearms... If you were to want to add an additional firearm to your permit after the fact, then I believe you would have to do all the paperwork over and pay the fee again.

It does not, I shoot my guns. I feel a gun is worthless unless you can shoot it, that’s part of the fun. If you’re oppressed to keep your guns locked up and away the Libs are defiantly winning.

What we need to do is stop people thinking that they are evil and bad things. They are tools much like any other tool; they are outlets for responsible American fun. Much like cruising the beach in a convertible corvette or racing the car in a safe environment.

The only difference is that the constitution does not give the right to race a car. It does give me the right to bare arms and the right to defend myself and my family.

Funny how repeat DUI offenders are still given the PRIVLEADGE of driving, but lawful god fearing citizens are being oppressed of our 2nd amendment rights.

Yes the U.S. Federal Constitution does give you the right to bear arms... however the State of California Constitution does not. Most people do not realize that there are two seperate governments at work here: Federal AND State. You're militay... think of it like this; the branch says that you can do this and that, but your base/unit says you cannot. The base/unit can hold you to higher standards and restrictions than the overal branch of service will hold you to. More than, but not less than standard (in a negative way). Its stupid... we all know this.

Contact DOJ and let them know what you need. They will ship you a packet and and once you get it you can go to your JAG or Security Clearance officer and have them do your finger print cards (do two so if they will not accept one there is a back upo right in the same envelope). Send a copy of your PCS Orders and the aplication. Mail everything back with 78 dollars and there should be no issue. I do not believe your state of residence will mater but if I were you I would change my residence to WA before I come here. One benifit would be when you register your auto it will save 80 percent.
