So, burningman and BLM are authorized to confiscate guns on BLM land?

burningman lit says they will confiscate firearms brought into their art event on BLM land- I talked to someone in the know of their higher ups & it seems as if some DC bureaucrats & some anti do gooders in the burningman org simply did away with due process and invented some right to confiscate. They claim its a "city" ignoring NV preemption law and creating a mini Chicago, they also claim its a private event but its on BLM land so doesn't the COTUS hold some sway?

It must suck for the gun owners who have to sneak their guns in, they have to drive thousands of miles across a desert with no cell phone reception to even call the police if they're attacked. I know a few who simply sneak their guns in.

Can't something be done? it affects CA gunnies in that the majority of attendees are from CA- also-they used to be quite gun friendly.

Do people that go to Burning Man actually own guns?
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

FURTHEST thing from an expert here (but I did sleep at a ....)

Might they have been issued a "Use Permit" or some other law breaking exemption paper granted to them by politico's?

They have use permits which allow them to refuse entry onto the "city" (read: festival) grounds. They can kick you out of their private event if you aren't complying with their ground rules too. Confiscate... hardly.

You have to realize that the people who organize BM live in their own world, our world has no relevance or meaning to them except when it infringes on their power trip.

Guns and explosives were the only reason I wanted to go in the late 80s and early 90s. Things changed as Burning Man grew.

Never been to one and have no interest in being around more hippies - I grew up in Santa Cruz - enough said.

                      My thoughts on this are:
Do you need to pay to get into the thing or whatever they call it? I would imagine the organizers have a permit for holding an event on BLM land, and so it would be like any private party. They may have private security, however, any private security or group of angry Obama supporting hippies would not have the police powers to confiscate bubble gum. They would simply complain to the BLM rangers that you are crashing their private party and are not welcome since your an armed redneck, and you would be requested to leave.
The only thing that is worse than an idiot, is someone who argues with one.

the smart folks I've talked to question how legal it is for BLM to enforce confiscation and the no firearm rule, its a huge chunk of public land that BLM makes $$ off of.

At least we should force burningman not to confiscate and simply turn ppl away.

why the hell would you wanna go there anyway

if for some reason I was there (not in a million years) no one is taking my firearm, not with those acid dropping freaks surrounding me.
you don't rise to the occasion,

Sounds like we need to set up a "Knob Creek exploding Man" right next door.
False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.
