School me on how to trade Guns

What is the procedure for a firearm trade? I may be interested in trading a long gun.

Same as with buying/selling them. You DROS the other guy's gun, he DROSes yours, and if there was cash added on either side, that changes hands.

Is the 10 day wait also applicable?

Thieves are the lowest form of life out there, except for liberal politicians, of course, but that's redundant.

Yes. As far as our most benevolent overlords are concerned, these are two completely separate transactions (with two PPT fees collected).

The only exception is if the long gun is a C&R. In that case, it can be transfered with no DROS or 10-day wait.

assuming this is a PPT transfer. If you purchase a C&R long gun from a dealer then you will still have the DROS and 10 day wait. Unless of course you have a C&R FFL and Certificate of Eligibility.

There are lots of great long guns that are 50+ years old that can be had fairly cheap. Usually the best way to find them is through gun clubs and organized shooting activities (competitions).

I have some more questions but I'm a little embarrassed to ask... Do both parties bring the firearms to initiate the DROS? After doing the paperwork, does each party take their own respective weapons home and go through the 10 day wait?
