AB668 (Expanding Gun Free School Zone) Gutted

The firearms provisions were stripped out and the text replaced with stuff about trespassing.

If this would have passed with the original text, school zones would have extended an additional 500 feet, meaning a 1500 ft gun free school zone! Exemptions were provided in the stricken section for loading firearms in your automobile, walking across a parking lot and driveway were protected areas.

Life is like having a map with precise directions and exact stops, you find out that your directions and stops change as you progress further down your original map.

The new bill which adds to 602pc making it a crime for persons now other than felons (F) to enter a property when they were told NOT to enter the property by a Police Officer, or an owner of the property, or it could be one of those things that makes it a crime for a person to enter a property and no longer be able to get away with it because of the fact that there was no "homeowner" or "business owner" to be present to say "Yeah, they trespassed", maybe.

This bill might have been something that is due to the many foreclosed houses, and the problem with squatters & screw-ups breaking in and partying, and saying they had permission from the HO, and they know that the HO (not the bank) likely won't be available to actually provide a statement. This might actually not be a bad measure, so (tentatively), but we still need to fire this person for even attempting to make 626.9 easier for violent thugs.

            Erik.

The person at LA schools who asked for the bill has since decided to run against the bill's sponsor. It's quite dead!

It's good to hear that our fine lawmakers are acting on their principles and not being childish and vengeful on such an important issue.
