I have a question about how to gift a gun to my Son out of state. I have a gun that I purchased here in California and I am giving it to my Son in Oregon. I assume that I need to ship to an FFL in Oregon because that is the only way that guns may be shipped. Is there any paperwork that I need to fill out on this end or get from Oregon? I don't know if this is the same as a normal sale because no money is changing hands and it is within the family.

you would find out how the Oregon FFL will accept the firearm (whether they will accept a shipment from a non-FFL, or will only accept a shipment from another FFL). At that point, you just ship it to the FFL. The Oregon FFL will do whatever paperwork Oregon requires to deliver the firearm to your son. No paperwork is required on your end, but it would be a good idea to file a "no longer in possession" form with CADOJ (available on their website) to get your AFS firearms records updated to show that you no longer own that handgun.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
