This is the response I received from Assemblywoman Audra Strickland in reference to my concerns about ammo limits and micro stamping. It's a bit generic but definately on the right track:
"The second amendment of the US Constitution explicitly states that "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
As your representative in the State Assembly, it is an honor to uphold the liberties and freedoms given to all Californians by both the Federal and State constitutions. In a letter to Justice John Cartwright, Thomas Jefferson wrote, "The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that... it is their right and duty to be at all times armed."
It is necessary to ensure that the individual citizen has the ability to protect his or her self, family and loved ones when the outside help is unavailable. The reassurance that good citizens have the right to guard themselves against the dangers that have arisen in this world must be protected and is one of our most valuable rights.
It is easier to use gun owners as scapegoats than it is to address the reality, which is that criminals, not the guns themselves, are what pose a threat to the general public. Activists often manipulate figures or use exceptional incidents of irresponsible people to justify their
opposition to the 2nd Amendment. But the real solution is to keep
weapons out of the hands of criminals.
More than 50% of the crimes committed in this country are committed by people who should be in prison. We must stop the problem of crime at the source; keeping criminals and irresponsible individuals from violating the law, rather than punishing honest citizens for the actions of others.
