RVing out of state with a handgun

    Hello all,

My parents are at that age where they've begun to RV. My father is interested in purchasing a handgun for protection and I had a few questions about the legality of having it in the vehicle.

They are using a Class B motor-home in which it is a van conversion that has the cab attached to the cabin.

Are they legally allowed to keep a loaded firearm inside of the vehicle as it is considered a "home" according to tax laws, not just a car?

Does anyone know the laws regarding traveling across state lines while possessing a California registered handgun?

    Thanks guys

The laws of each state differ. No easy answer.

Have they thought about getting non-resident CCW licenses? That would cover them in quite a few states.

No haven't thought of that, but that might be a good idea.

              Something like this one?

That's the one. There are other states that offer non-resident CCW licenses that the Utah and Florida ones don't cover. Nevada comes to mind. That little extra piece of mind means quite a bit.

                    Take a look a this page. http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_ca...city_maps.html
I'm not sure how up to date the map is but i'm sure someone else could elaborate more thoroughly. This one also links out to more detailed info.

They list phone numbers and additional info.
