Question on vertical foregrip Saiga 12.

A shotgun is classified as a AW if it has a detachable magazine or if it has two features in combination.

    A. folding stock
    B. pistol grip or vertical foregrip
    C. A drum or revolver magazine/feeding device.

    I can see A+B, A+C, or B+C giving you a AW shotgun.

My question is does B+B equal two features, hence a AW or is the AW features require that the counting features are from seperate lists.

While I would like a SAIGA with a foregrip, I view it as too risky at this time.

I saw someone post a nice SAIGA with a foreward grip.

Would that be a AW here in Cali, the rules could be interpreted the wrong way.

Yes, you can have a pistol grip and a VFG as long as you do not have a folding or telescoping stock.

You need a feature in A to trigger B. Both in 12276.1 refers to one feature in A and one in B. Not two total.

    (6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
    (A) A folding or telescoping stock.
    (B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action
of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.
    (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a
    detachable magazine.
    (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
The Shotgun Flowchart illustrates the same concept.

Using your ABC terminology, only A + B would make it an AW. Any shotgun with 'C' would make it an AW by itself and A and B are not relevant.

Note that 6 only consists of A and B, while 7 and 8 stand alone and will make a shotgun an AW.

      I think you're confused.

C makes it an AW regardless of A or B.

A and B must both be present on a semi-auto for it to be an AW.

A VFG on a Saiga-12 would be fine as it does not have a collapsible stock, does not have a detachable mag, nor does it meet any other definition of an AW.

There is a flowchart for SGs now, up top.
