    barter

just a thought, but do you think Arnold is holding all the bills as potential barter for support for this?

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to call for a special legislative session to consider a new tax reform plan. But the overhaul faces skepticism.

he agrees not to veto for support for his larger agenda?

    Considering that it is Arnie

    Schwarzenegger said,

    "No new taxes. Period."

"Explain to me the advantage of raising all those taxes in the middle of a recession."
    From the Article:
I think he will leverage anything before him to try and salvage an already lost career.

The tax reform is different taxes though, it actually hands out a tax to the lower and middle income brackets on a more rigid basis. No sales tax and no corporate taxes as well mean higher employment. So, I don't think Arnold would rule this out under the blanket statement of "no new taxes".

from the article - yes, i agree it would be hard for him to sell this to california, let alone to the legislature who has a worse rating than him.

anyway, i was just thinking if we are seeing him wait on veto'ing our two bills, i was wondering what political games might be happening behind the big curtain.

and on that note, i'm going to make my ten calls before bedtime.

I was just pointing out that he ran for office under that statement and he has done quite the opposite.

i agree with you. i was just discussing it more...

bottom line, these bills are revenue negative - i'm not sure how he can not veto them w/o breaking his underlying promise to the people who voted for him.

He usually takes up bills that deal with the same topic area in groups. Education bills, public safety, environmental, budget trailer bills etc.
