    Lakeside LM7 legal in CA?

I was just curious if the Lakeside Machine LM7 .22 beltfed AR15 upper was legal in CA? Provided it was SB23 and HiCap compliant. Anybody have one? Web address says Title 1. I found it while looking at NFA stuff.
    It looks fun as hell.

Per the link provided above it says:

The LM7 is a BATFE approved design. It is a NON-Firearm upper conversion and is NOT a firearm or firearm receiver. NO FFL NEEDED

I would say that means it's CA legal as long it's SB23 compliant and you don't use linked ammo in excess of 10 rounds.

One of their distributors in located in Ventura, CA, per this page:

Looks like the potential for a lot of fun.

The design appears that if the magazine adaptor was pinned into the lower to prevent use of 30 round mags (yes I know they don't work with the upper but we all know how the DOJ is focused on "capacity to accept" now). it would be OK.

I think that's how the belt box is attached.

Yep, I think the DOJ also became aware of upper conversions that actually feed the ammo (like this, as well as the Shrike and others) on ARs and that was one other regulatory tweak their language didn't (couldn't) deal with.

So are we able to buy this. I am still unsure how .22 rules (law) when it comes to mags, evil features, and such. I understand the rules when it come to the ar, ak, hk, basically the black rifles. Just trying to learn as much as I can since I am a newbie. And thanks to all that repond.

                      fun, but IIRC, very expensive.

Pretty cool...but what's the point of having it if you are only allowed to have 10 rounds?
                        Thanks, Ernie

they DID produce a gun that used those belts prior to 2000, so you could have had them since before the ban, in theory anywa.

I've been thinking about this. What if in every 11th link you put an empty shell. The links would be separated in 10s and you would have to charge it after each 10 round section.
